Apostille requirements in Belarus
Belarus acceded to the 1966 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents. Therefore, for the use of documents issued in Belarus, higher verification (superlegalization) is not required; an apostille is sufficient.
- Only the original document can be apostilled; any potential notarized copy can only be produced afterwards.
- It is not possible to apostille documents that contain foreign stamps or other markings. The document must also be in good condition, and the stamps on the document must be clearly legible.
- The apostille certificate is a rectangular stamp. The data on the stamp is always filled out in the Belarusian language, and the heading of the stamp necessarily includes the French title: Apostille (Convention de la Haye du 5 octobre 1961).
Which Belarusian documents can be apostilled
- Birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates
- Educational documents (certificates, diplomas)
- Extract from the commercial register
- Court decisions
- Notarized copies of documents
- Notarized translations
- Documents on which the signature was verified by a notary (powers of attorney, declarations, etc.)
- Commercial documents (articles of association, certificates of registration, tax registrations, etc.)
