Have you moved from the USA to Slovakia and need to exchange your American driver’s license for a Slovak one? This process is often confusing for many expats, especially due to the specific requirements of Slovak authorities regarding the documentation of a driver’s history.
The U.S. Embassy in Bratislava does not confirm the validity of driver’s licenses, as these are documents issued by individual states, not the federal government. However, the Slovak Motor Vehicle Department requires an official Driving Record, its notary certification, and a certified translation.
At Legalizačné centrum, we have prepared an “All-in-One” package, through which you can obtain a Slovak driver’s license without unnecessary bureaucracy.
What does our complete service include?
As part of a single package, we will handle the entire administrative merry-go-round for you:
Obtaining the Driving Record: We will request your official driving record history directly from the USA (e.g., from the State of New Jersey or any other US state).
Notary certification: We will ensure that the document is officially certified by a notary for use in the Slovak Republic.
Certified translation into Slovak: We will provide a certified translation of the entire record, including all clauses, by a certified translator registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic.
Consultation: We will advise you on the subsequent submission of your application at the relevant Motor Vehicle Department.
Price for the complete package: 260 EUR
Price for the complete package: 260 EUR
(The price is final and includes the fee for requesting the document from the USA, notary fees, and the complete certified translation).

Sample record – US Driving Record. We will request records from any state within the USA for you. This service is included in the price.
How does it work? (Procedure)
Sending the data: You will send us your name, date of birth, current driver’s license number, and the state in which it was issued. You will also provide a high-quality scan of both the front and back of your driver’s license (the US card).
Processing: We will request your “Jersey Driving Record” (or another, depending on the state of issuance).
Finalization: We will translate the document and prepare it for submission. All you have to do is visit the police with the completed package. The police in Slovakia have a 30-day deadline to exchange your driver’s license for a Slovak one.
Don’t wait for embassy appointments that won’t help you. Leave all the administration to us.
